A few days ago, I talked about the videogames I’m looking forward to play on 2020. So I thought it might be a good idea to also talk about some games that are not even the last of my thoughts. I’m not saying that the games in this list are bad or something (also, they’re all pretty big titles), it’s just that right now I’m not interested in them. They’re all in this list because are expected by many people, and because if I had less backlog to think about I would buy almost them all.
The Last of Us Part II
Hold on the rotten tomatoes for a second. I have one, simple issue with this game: I haven’t played the first game of the series yet. So it’s only natural that The Last of Us Part II isn’t creating that much hype for me.
Will I play The Last of Us anytime soon? I am actually pretty positive about that.
When I bought my PlayStation 4 in 2016, I had The Last of Us, Bloodborne and The Order: 1886 in bundle with the console and I wanted to play them. I still do. Life has been pretty harsh these years, and I hope to find the time to play these games soon.
We’ll see if I’ll end up buying The Last of Us Part II.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
I’d rather play the original than wasting my money on only a quarter of the original experience. I said that, you can throw the rotten tomatoes at the screen now.
I just don’t like the direction that Square Enix is taking with some of its products, like Final Fantasy XV, which I dropped by the end of Chapter Five. Disappointment is the thing I fear the most when I think about Square Enix games to be honest. So this time I will keep the money in my pocket and I’ll decide later on if I should buy Final Fantasy VII Remake or not.
Persona 5 Scramble
Persona 5 Scramble looks great and it’s about one of my favorite games of the decade, but I don’t have a really good relationship with the musou genre. When I start a musou I usually have fun for about one or two hours, and then I drop it. So I don’t think I should get it at launch.
I will definitely play it sooner or later, but not on 2020, it’s just not one of my priorities. Like Persona 5 Royal.
Resident Evil 3
I’m scared. And not of the game per se, but of the memories I have tied to the original Resident Evil trilogy. I have the same issue with the first two chapters: I fear that I would not like them as much as the originals, since I was I child when I first played them.
The remake of Resident Evil 3 will stay on the shelf for now, but I hope I will overcome my fears and play all the remakes they made, starting with Resident Evil Rebirth.
Cyberpunk 2077
I still have to play The Witcher series. And that’s a pretty solid reason for me. Cyberpunk 2077 looks great, but I don’t think I’ll manage to find time for it. That is the only reason that is keeping this game far from me, and I hope I will manage to buy and play it next year!
