Why I Decided Not to Buy Persona 5 Royal

I told you I would have bought Persona 5 Royal at launch, but I changed my mind.

I’m a huge fan of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, as well of the Persona spin-off series, but I think it is not worthy for people who have bought the vanilla version at launch to buy Persona 5 Royal.

The reason is quite simple. We have DLCs now. Why keep going with a practice that was okay during the PlayStation 2 era and not updating to the modern times? Even Square Enix did so with Kingdom Hearts 3!

I think I’ll buy Persona 5 Royal during 2020, but not on Day-One. March is full of games that I’m interested in, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. I chose to buy those instead of giving again 60+ euros to Atlus again for the same game with only a few changes.

I’m not saying to boicott Atlus or anything like that. If you haven’t played the vanilla version, I highly recommend to buy Persona 5 Royal on March 31th. But for those who already supported the game on 2017, is it really worth it?
